In May 2012 we decided to expand our portfolio and move into East Africa as we feel this is an extraordinary destination that all clients can enjoy and experience.

For us to understand and fully appreciate the areas and properties we decided to experience it for ourselves, and so embarked on a 10-day site inspection which took us to some amazing places.

The vistas and wildlife were outstanding and some of the highlights included:

> The mist covered Ngorongoro Crater teaming with lush vegetation and amazing elephant and lion
> The Serengeti itself was spectacular with endless horizons dotted with migrating zebra and wilderbeast
> The contrast of the immense natural richness of Lake Manyara National Park – sadly we did not spot the famous tree climbing lion!
> The huge open spaces and myriad of colours and light in the Masai Mara with close wildlife encounters

The safari can then be combined with total relaxation on one of the nearby beaches on Zanzibar on along the Kenyan coast.

Have a look at some of own pictures.

Q: Can’t travel without
A: Sun glasses & wet wipes!

Q: Beach or Bush?

A: As much as I love the beach, it has to be the bush for me. Apart from the amazing wildlife, I love the peace & tranquillity there, as well as the incomparable sunsets. You are so far removed from hectic city life & the sense of space is endless. I could sit & watch elephants for hours.

Q: Best travel experience:
A: Arriving at one of South Africa’s most luxurious safari lodges after a very long, hot and dusty day in the car to be greeted with a glass of chilled champagne and a hot bubble bath – heaven on earth!

Q: Strangest travel request?
A: Can we please request to see leopard on our last day!
Q: What is your favourite place to visit in Southern Africa?
A: Apart from the magic of The Mother City, I would have to say visiting the turquoise waters around the barefoot luxury island of Benguerra in Mozambique....

Q: What would a client do in 24 hours in Cape Town?
A: Start with breakfast at the Biscuit Mill, an outdoor organic farmers market, then take the cable car up Table Mountain. If you are feeling adventurous, you could then abseil down! Time is precious, so take a helicopter trip along the peninsula, flying over the famous beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay and then on to Cape Point. Passing Robben Island on route, lunch has to be at South Africa’s best rated restaurant, La Colombe and afterwards take a scenic ride back via Harley Davidson! Cocktails at St Ives or Caprice in Camps Bay are a must! Soak up the buzz here and then head for a chilled al- fresco dinner on beach at The Grand at Granger Bay! And if you still have energy then hit the clubs and bars on Long Street!

Q: Worst Travel Experience?
A: It would have to be when we went on a horseback safari in the Waterberg, which although wonderful, turned into a rather frightening moment when my horse backed into a tree, ripping my shirt and refusing to move, all of this with a huge rhino standing only a few metres away!

Q: Roughing it or lux’ing it?

A: As much as I like adventure, I have to admit that I am rather partial to the luxury travel experiences.
